Guides for students, young founders and innovators in India on startup ideas, ideathons and idea competitions — how ideas are judged, how to win and how to pitch.
Guides
The best startup ideas for students are rarely clever inventions. They are problems you have watched up close — on campus, at home, in your town. Here is where to look, and how to tell a good one from a merely interesting one.
Guides
Idea competitions and business-plan competitions both reward startup thinking, but they ask for very different things. Here is what each involves and how to decide which one fits you right now.
Guides
Idea competitions are the easiest way for a college student in India to put a startup idea in front of real judges — no product, company or funding needed. This guide covers the formats, what they cost, how they are judged and how to prepare.
Guides
You do not need to code to win an idea competition. Many of the strongest student ideas come from commerce, arts, law and design — because that is where so many everyday problems live.
For Colleges
An ideathon is one of the easiest entrepreneurship events a college can run — and one of the easiest to run badly. This checklist covers planning, judging and the day itself, for E-cells, incubation centres and faculty coordinators.
For Colleges
An entrepreneurship cell lives or dies by its events. These are formats that work on Indian campuses, with notes on what makes each one worth a student’s evening.
Guides
Validation means finding evidence that a problem is real and that people would use — and pay for — your solution, before you spend months building it. Here is how to do it on a student budget.
Guides
A pitch is not a speech about your dream. It is a short, structured argument that a problem is real and your idea can solve it. Here is a structure that works in three to five minutes, and how to handle the questions that follow.
Guides
Ideathons are won on the page, long before anyone pitches. This guide walks through an entry from the first spark to the final submit — what to write in each answer, how to use feedback, and the mistakes that quietly sink good ideas.
Guides
An ideathon is a competition for ideas, not code. You bring a problem worth solving and a convincing way to solve it; judges decide whose thinking is strongest. Here is how ideathons work, how they differ from hackathons and b-plan competitions, and why they suit students from any stream.

Every idea entered in Bharat Idea League is scored on the same six criteria, with the same weights, in every city. Here is what each one asks, what a strong answer looks like, and how the score and the human jury fit together.
