Host an Ideathon at Your College: Your City’s Bharat Idea League Round

Bharat Idea League runs as city rounds, and each city’s round is hosted by one college. If your E-cell, incubation centre or entrepreneurship faculty wants a national idea competition on your campus, this is how it works.

What hosting involves

Your college hosts its city’s round on campus. You give the hall and bring your students; we run registration, the scoring, the leaderboard and the prizes.

Hosting is free to arrange and the paperwork is light — a short note, a date and a hall. Most rounds are set up a few weeks ahead, once the date, the hall and the expected number of students are fixed.

The format is an ideathon, not a hackathon: students submit ideas, not code, so it is open to every department on your campus. What an ideathon is.

What Bharat Idea League runs

  • Online entry: students write their idea and answer eight short questions, in about 20 minutes, and pay ₹99 + GST only once they choose to submit.
  • Scoring: every idea is scored out of 100 on six parameters, and the student sees the full report behind the score as soon as it is ready. How ideas are judged.
  • Jury: a dashboard where your jurors read the submissions and pick their top three.
  • Prizes: ₹10,000, ₹5,000 and ₹2,000 for the city’s top three, handed over in person at your college.
  • The Founder’s Starter Pack: four short ebooks for every entrant, win or lose.

Your faculty on the jury

Faculty of the host college are invited onto that round’s jury, alongside founders and people from industry. Jurors read entries without the student’s name or college, so a host college’s own students are judged on their ideas alone.

Every juror picks their own 1st, 2nd and 3rd; the organisers combine the picks and confirm the city’s top three.

One host college per city

Each city has one round and one host college, which runs it for every student in that city — not only its own. Students from other colleges in the city enter the same round, which is what makes the host the centre of the city’s student-startup scene for the season.

The league is coming to major cities across India — Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Kolkata, Pune, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Lucknow, Chandigarh, Guwahati and more. No city has a host college yet, so whichever college writes in first can host its city’s round and set it up.

From your campus to the National Summit

Every city’s top three go forward. The best five among them pitch to investors and industry leaders at the National Summit in Delhi — so your winners carry your college’s name onto a national stage. About the National Summit.
